ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MEDICINE. OVERVIEW OF THE 21ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MEDICINE (JUNE 2023)
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
A review of studies, the results of which were discussed at the 21st international conference on artificial intelligence in medicine, is presented. The conference was held in Slovenia in June 2023. The first conference of this type was held in 1985; 15 reports were presented in its materials. The 2023 state-of-the-art conference featured 47 presentations in the areas of: evaluation of predictive models in medicine, image analysis, data analysis, machine and deep learning, decision support and explainability technologies, learning transfer and signal analysis, natural language processing. Only 2 studies out of 47 were devoted to a sociological analysis of the use of AI technologies in healthcare. One of these studies - "National data on e-prescriptions reveals the position of doctors and their prescribing patterns in Slovenia" by Pavlin G. Poličar, Dalibor Stanimirovic, Blaž Zupan - was analyzed in detail to determine how effective the methodology proposed by the authors is. The main way of presenting the results of the study was the visualization of clusters, which combined the types of drugs prescribed by Slovenian doctors. The authors believe that these results can be used for machine learning and for planning the purchase of these drugs, since health care in Slovenia is managed centrally. It is concluded that this technique can also be applied to Russia, since there is also a centralized regional administration in the field of public health. It is expected to analyze the dynamics of research in the field of sociology of AI in medicine at this conference in the future.
