The article is devoted to the study of the cinematic work of Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi through the prism of Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy of culture. The author considers cinema as a visual carrier of philosophical knowledge, capable of transmitting complex conceptual foundations to a mass audience of viewers. Using the example of the film «Drive my Car», the representation of Nietzschean ideas is analyzed, manifested in the themes of vitalism, nomadism, theater as a model of society, existential loneliness, etc. Special attention is paid to intertextual interaction with the works of A. P. Chekhov and the influence of the philosophical and aesthetic heritage of A. Tarkovsky, which allows us to trace a complex network of cultural and semantic reminiscences. The methodological basis of the research consists of philosophical, art criticism and semiotic methods of analyzing cinema, which make it possible to reveal the structural, visual and symbolic levels of the work. The article emphasizes that the existing scientific literature lacks a systematic understanding of Hamaguchi's work in the context of the philosophy of F. Nietzsche, which makes the undertaken research relevant and significant both for the philosophy of culture and for modern cinema aesthetics.
